Let's hear it for the Site Managers!

What does it mean for Site Managers to win our Site Manager of the Year award?

Site Managers are the people who make developments tick.

They’re the main point of contact for our risk management surveyors; it’s the relationship between us and them that plots the course of a site in progress.

That’s why we recognise Site Managers each year with the LABC Warranty Site Manager of the Year awards.

Even with all the unprecedented challenges in 2020, Site Managers have done a terrific job and it pained us being unable to crown an overall winner. So each of our 15 regional winners are champions this year!

So here’s the story of their success…in their words...starting with Paul Thompson from Tolent.

What does winning Site Manager of the Year mean to you and your team?

Paul: “I was thrilled to have been nominated but winning the award has been a great achievement for myself. This really could not have been done without the support of Tolent, the operatives and Gary Turney, the LABC surveyor."

What was the biggest challenge on your site and how did you overcome it?

Paul: “The scheme was a very challenging site with multiple areas needing to be completed all at the same time. Although the scheme was a traditional build, there were some complex details that needed a lot of consideration and attention to detail to ensure that not only the appearance was right but that the build complied with all the requirements of building control, LABC Warranty and the client’s requirements. A lot of discussion was held around some of these details with Gary Turney and John Flaherty (LABC Warranty Regional Manager) to ensure it was compliant and was right for all. I really appreciated the support from the LABC surveyors to assist in these details.”

What aspect of the site and work are you most proud about?

Paul: “I am extremely proud of the finished scheme as a whole, however there are always things that could be improved upon which I will take forward onto future schemes. The quality of the housing and communal spaces that the scheme has brought to the local community is fantastic and provides new and existing residents the opportunity to socialise and build on their new relationships.”
