Meet LABC Warranty's Gary Wilson

Gary Wilson joined the LABC Warranty team in late 2023, and since then he’s been LABC Warranty’s account manager for the North of England and Wales.

It’s a testament to the amount of time he spends knee-deep in the North’s homebuilding world that we’ve only just been able to pin him down and ask him some questions.

If you’re a builder in the North, and you want to talk to a warranty provider – get in touch with Gary. If you’re anywhere else in the UK, we have someone ready to talk.

Meet Gary Wilson, your LABC Warranty account manager in the North

About Gary Wilson’s career before LABC Warranty

I have worked in construction sales for the past 20 years, with external render being my particular specialist area, having worked for Weber Saint-Gobain for almost 10 years and also having spent over 8 years working for K Rend in Ireland prior to moving to the UK mainland in October 2013.

What attracted Gary to the warranty industry and LABC Warranty in particular?

During my time at Weber I had a few touch points with LABC Warranty, in particular delivering a 'Best Practice' presentation on external renders to some members of the surveying team.
I also wanted to broaden my overall technical knowledge rather than just being focused on a limited product range. From a design point of view, the offices in Birkenhead are also some of the most interesting I have ever visited!

What’s most important in the warranty world?

Building long-term relationships has always been a large part of the way I have gone about my work over the years.  Having the right rapport and gaining the trust of customers is one of the best ways of taking the conversation away from being focused merely on price.
Being a brand ambassador is something I have always been conscious of, and that is a key consideration in how I conduct myself with customers.

What stands out most about the North region for LABC Warranty?

The LABC Warranty North region is a very diverse territory, extending from North Wales right up the North East. It’s a similar territory to what I covered at the beginning of my time at Weber Saint-Gobain and there are some beautiful locations so I am looking forward to travelling about the area in the summer months!

What is Gary most excited about in 2024?

I’m enjoying the process of getting to know key customers and also hope to develop some new accounts.  It’s also been good to meet up again with some contacts I dealt with in my previous role as well.  I’ve inherited a good sales territory and just want to be able to keep it as a strong performer for LABC Warranty throughout 2024 and beyond.

If Gary could put anything on his Christmas list for 2024, what would it be?

A new house!
