About the Good Practice Guide

The Guide is our blueprint to what LABC Warranty’s Risk Management Surveyor’s are looking for when inspecting a site beyond the requirements of the Technical Manual.

It’s a guide to producing quality, upholding the best standards in building as we see them, and keeping adhering to its guidance offers builders the best chance of winning awards like Site Recognition Awards.

The latest edition of this guide, Version 3, is live now.

What’s different about this edition

Version 3 of the Good Practice Guide focuses almost entirely on quality of workmanship.

Where previous editions mentioned health and safety, tidiness, and communication, this latest version covers the key stages of construction.

Using examples from real sites under our care, the new Guide shows you what LABC Warranty is (and, crucially isn’t) looking for on your sites.

Why the change is happening

“Version 3 is a significant shift in the content of the Good Practice Guide,” said Sarah Dee Shapland, Head of Technical Services at LABC Warranty. “The Guide now puts quality of workmanship and quality of new home construction front and centre.”

“This shift in our guidance reflects a corresponding change in LABC Warranty putting individual unit quality on a pedestal and judging the quality of site management against that criterion.

“LABC Warranty’s goal is to work with you to produce sites you’re proud to put your name to, and places that residents are proud to call home.

“The Good Practice Guide, along with the Technical Manual and close collaboration with your Risk Management Surveyor, is how we achieve that goal together.”

What to do next

The first thing to do is make sure you download a copy of the latest Good Practice Guide and become familiar with its contents.

If, after that, you still have questions about what’s expected on your site, we recommend you reach out to your assigned Risk Management Surveyor.

If you have a wider, more general question for LABC Warranty’s Technical Team, you’re always welcome to contact technical.referrals@labcwarranty.co.uk with your enquiry.
