Technical manual version 9 launched
Our long awaited new technical standards (version 9) are now live, applicable to new orders from 18th April 2020.
This comprehensive, image and diagram based guide incorporates new and existing guidance into relevant 'building parts' sections to assist with the understanding of how to meet our structural warranty requirements. The Functional Requirements which apply to all areas are now found at the front of the manual unless only relevant to a particular section such as foundations.
This new and more logical way of looking at technical guidance is structured in relation to what you are looking for, or the element of construction e.g. render is covered under a sub-section in External Walls. If you think about 'What am I looking for?' or which House Part/Element, you will find what you are looking for quicker e.g. information on Ventilation is in the Ventilation section found in Section 16.
The manual also includes an overview to help understanding of the differences between this new guide and previous versions to support familiarisation for existing customers.
As part of our technical approach we are always happy to discuss flexible solutions to meeting these standards and allowing other forms of construction to be considered, providing of course that early discussion with our surveyors is undertaken.
Our new manual can be viewed and downloaded free of charge here.
Hard copies of the manual are provided free of charge as part of annual registration with LABC Warranty and for all applicable new sites registered. If you are unsure of which technical standards apply to your site, please speak to your surveyor.
Please Note: Every care was taken to ensure the information in this article was correct at the time of publication. Any written guidance provided does not replace the reader’s professional judgement and any construction project should comply with the relevant Building Regulations or applicable technical standards. However, for the most up to date technical guidance please refer to your Risk Management Surveyor and the latest version of our technical manual.
