The HBF Star Rating and Customer Satisfaction Survey were launched in 2005, and have gone on to become the industry-standard for new home satisfaction surveys in the UK.
The Star Rating itself is a point of immense pride for home builders and developers, with five-star rated businesses taking every opportunity to advertise their rating to prospective buyers.
In addition to the prestige of earning a five-star rating, responses from homeowners are collated and presented to home builders for actionable insights for the wider new-home building industry.
Sending the HBF Star Rating Survey is triggered by a home’s legal completion date. Every month, surveys will be distributed to any homes that have passed an eight-week gap from their completion date.
Homeowners with an email address will receive their survey through email, with text message and postal reminders. These users will be directed an online survey portal, where they can complete their survey.
Any homeowners without an email address will receive a physical copy of their survey, with a postal reminder.
Home builders also enjoy access to the portal, where they can catch-up on the survey responses submitted so far.
Once the responses are collected, they will be assessed and independently verified. Following this, any eligible home builder will be told their HBF Star Rating for the following build year.
There is no minimum unit number to send the survey through LABC Warranty. However, you must complete a minimum of 20 units a year to be assessed for an HBF Star rating.
The survey itself contains a set of standard questions that are asked of every home owner. For a fee, it’s possible to have additional questions added to the survey.
No, you do not have to have to be an HBF member to start using the survey.
You do not have to be an LABC Warranty customer to use the New Homes Survey, but you must register as a builder with LABC Warranty and pay the corresponding fee.
