The Bricks Winners 2020
Old Pump House by Newland Homes
The overall winners of The Bricks 2020 have been announced.
Find out what it means to win The Bricks - and what it takes to be an award-winning site.
In this article we speak to Mark Holden, Site Manager for Newland Homes about Old Pump House, winner of Development of the Year (51 - 100 units) South.
What does this award mean to you, your team and business?
Receiving this award means years of learning, understanding, developing and continually improving a “formula” to bring together all professionals and trades to construct the best homes in the south west is bearing fruition with a recognition such as this.
To the team it gives everyone a sense of achievement. We’ve all gone the extra mile and put time into the fine detail which has been rewarded.
For the business it affirms our position as a housing developer that invests in high quality products and processes throughout its build and industry innovation.
What does winning this award mean to your customers and business partners?
To our customers, a recent quote we received, “You’ve built this house to perfection and we feel so lucky every day to wake up here” and this is the icing on the cake for us. This award has helped make our purchasers feel they have not only made the right choice to move to Old Pump House, but also the perfect choice.
With great supplier relationships and regular communication and forward planning, our dedicated suppliers have helped secure all materials required to complete our homes on programme, allowing us to deliver our commitment to our customers without any delays.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome in creating Old Pump House?
From my own point of view, my biggest challenge was to integrate into Newland Homes, with this being my first job with the company. Although this was daunting, I was welcomed and supported in all fields from engineers, technicians, buyers, quantity surveyors, sales and management.
This well-established team allowed me to focus on the build and gave me the means to complete the customers’ homes and overall development to the highest standards. I now feel part of the Newland family.
What about Old Pump House makes you most proud?
I am proud of the trades who have worked harmoniously together, the specification we put into our homes, the overall appearance of a modern construction look to the site and I’m proud to hand over the keys to realise people’s dream homes.
