The Bricks 2017 – The Winners

The winners of the Bricks 2017 were announced at an exclusive event in the Shard. Overlooking central London our worthy finalists were treated to a fine dining experience and entertainment from Jon Culshaw, before finding out if they would be taking home a coveted award.

So, who won the 2017 awards and why did our judges pick the winners?

 

Single Unit Developer of the Year

Winner: Fairfield Homes Limited
Site: Aspen House

The Judges said: 
This developer takes great pride in their work, which is reflected in the high standards of this property with an exquisite high class finish.”

 

Development of the Year (2-10 units)

Winner: M H Stainton Ltd
Site: Park Meadow

The Judges said: The quality of works, attention to detail and specifications for materials are to be commended on this small, exclusive development.

 

Development of the Year (11-50 units) – North

Winner: High Grange Developments Limited
Site: Keekle Meadow

The Judges said: A traditional build with an astonishing finish, this developer takes extreme pride in their work and reputation. One of the surveyors commented that the quality of workmanship he witnessed on site was without doubt the best he had witnessed throughout his career.

 

Development of the Year (11-50 units) – South

Winner: Heritage Developments SW Ltd 
Site: The Chasse

The Judges said: This developer is no stranger when it comes to a well-executed build from start to finish. They have shown very good site practises and standards throughout, you simply can’t get any better than this.

 

Development of the Year (11-50 units) – North

Winner: St Modwen Homes
Site: Manorfields

The Judges said: You could not fault this development. The level of standard is well above average for a big site like this particularly in terms of health and safety and organisation.

 

Development of the Year (Over 51 units) – South

Winner: Bloor Homes South Midlands
Site: Ampthill Chase

The Judges said: A very well organised and tidy development with good finishes throughout. One of the surveyors commented it is one of the best developments he had seen in over twenty years on site.

 

Social Housing Development of the Year

Winner: Gentoo Homes Ltd
Site: Hill Crag 

The Judges said: An attractive affordable homes development well put together with good standards and good finishes throughout.

 

Multi-Storey Development of the Year

Winner: Redrow
Site: Colindale Gardens

The Judges said: This developer has gone to impressive lengths on what is a significantly large scale site. The workmanship and site management is spot on, these guys know how to do and boy do they do it well.

  

Rising Star

Winner: Daniel Pickering from St Modwen Homes 

The Judges said: This person has demonstrated his enthusiasm to learn at every opportunity, undoubtedly showing his incredible drive to become part of the construction industry. He has blossomed within his role and made a huge impact in his team.

 

Unsung Hero

Winner: Nigel Derry from Jessup Brothers Ltd

The Judges said: As an invaluable, well-respected member of the team, this person has gained a wealth of experience. Seen as a role model in the business, their positive attitude, commitment and determination is just simply exemplary.

 

Bricks and Mortar Partnership Award

Winner: ENGIE Services Ltd. in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council
The Judges said: This local authority has shown their ongoing commitment maintaining our relationship undertaking training and experiences to enable a greater understanding of the LABC Warranty service. Their belief in providing a good service for both building control and warranty is paramount to maintaining our partnership.
