Every workplace has an Unsung Hero. Nominate yours now for The Bricks 2019

One thing that strikes a chord with us here at LABC Warranty is the real pride our winners take in claiming the top spots in our annual Bricks awards. No more so than in the categories for individuals – Site Manager of the Year, Rising Star and Unsung Hero.

The other pleasure with these categories is the joy that winning or being name a finalist gives those whose names are put forward, and those who nominate, at our prestigious annual event in London.

If this is an experience you would like to share in this year, you need to act quickly. The closing date for Unsung Hero nominations is Friday 30 August 2019. The good news is that nominating your Unsung Hero is a simple process using our online form, though you might quickly want to read what we are looking for below before you apply.

Meet 2018’s Unsung Hero – Karen Campbell from Jessup

Karen Campbell (pictured above) demonstrated that building homes takes a whole range of talented people, carrying out important work that can slip under the radar of busy construction staff. As nominator Jon Wilkins explained, “Karen drives our social values strategy and delivery, which involves close working with sites, clients, residents, schools and other organisations. This takes a considerable amount of time and effort and largely goes unnoticed by the construction side of the business, but adds tremendous value to our reputation as a socially responsible business.”

Jon highlighted that Karen helps Jessup achieve higher Considerate Constructors scores across their sites by working with site managers to deliver better community engagement and raise the quality in all aspects of site operation.

Even with support from Jessup’s management team, Jon added, “Karen largely works independently, demonstrating her drive, initiative and dedication. She has established strong working relationships with clients to raise our profile and made a real, positive difference to the way we deliver construction projects.”

So your Unsung Hero may or may not be directly involved in the construction side of the organisation. Could it be someone like Karen, part of the team effort required to bring new homes to towns and communities across England and Wales?

What we’re looking for in The Bricks 2019 Unsung Hero

We are looking for nominations that, like Karen, describe an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty. They are the person that:

  • You can rely on to make things happen – always a safe pair of hands
  • Ensures everything runs smoothly, bringing success to the most challenging of tasks
  • Believes nothing is too difficult to do a great job

Know someone like this? Tell us a bit about them here and nominate them for The Bricks 2019. It only takes a few minutes but could mean so much to your Unsung Hero.

The deadline is Friday 30 August 2019. Finalists will be shortlisted and announced in September.

Another date for your diary is The Bricks 2019 awards day – Thursday 24 October 2019. The venue is pretty special, but being kept under wraps for now.

We are looking forward to reading about the industry’s Unsung Heroes. Good luck.
