Building reputation, inspiring colleagues and healthy competition, and selling homes fast
What winning awards means to our customers
Our award-winning developers get much more than a certificate and well-earned recognition from LABC Warranty.
As comments from 2021 winners of our Bricks Site Recognition Awards show, they’re building reputation, inspiring hard-working colleagues, creating healthy competition between developments and selling homes faster than ever.
We spoke to several winners about what winning an award from LABC Warranty means to their business, their staff and of course, their customers.
Riva Homes – Oxford Meadows, Gomersal, West Yorkshire
Riva Homes’ most in-demand site
“The whole team at Riva Homes is thrilled to have been awarded The Bricks Site Recognition Award,” said Riva Homes Director Paul Frain. “We are very proud of the quality of the homes we handover to our customers and to receive this accolade from LABC Warranty is testament to the quality-first ethos that everyone at Riva Homes shares.
“Our team – from construction through to customer service – cares about every detail and it is really rewarding to have that recognised, both in The Bricks Site Recognition Award and in the response we’ve had from our customers at Gomersal.
“Oxford Meadows has been our most in-demand site to date, with almost 80% reserved with early bird homebuyers, proving that we continue to build a solid reputation for style and quality.”
J W Stratton – Macauley Place, Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne
More local staff hired
J W Stratton are no strangers to LABC Warranty awards, and neither is their Macauley Place development. In 2019 it was a Bricks shortlisted finalist. The development of houses, townhouses and apartments combines modern design, quality materials and local craftsmanship.
Managing Director Martin Bates paid tribute to his site management team of Jack Green and Richard Snow as well as LABC Warranty senior surveyor Jonathan Cornell.
Martin said: “The majority of our tradesmen have worked for the company for many years, but we are pleased to have been able to take on additional local staff and an apprentice bricklayer for the development.
“We also work with a team of tried and trusted subcontractors and it is this whole combination which has worked so well for us at Macauley Place.
“The Bricks Site Recognition Award should further enhance the status of Macauley Place as a high quality development for our customers. As a local company with a good reputation we strive to provide an excellent and personal after sales service for our purchasers.”
Peveril Homes, Flagshaw Pastures, Kirk Langley, Derbyshire
Creating healthy competition between developments
According to Commercial Director Lloyd Holmes, site managers strive to win awards as they help recognise the quality of their work.
“All our Site Managers strive to achieve these awards, the recognition of these awards is something our construction teams are proud to receive. The awards create a healthy competition between developments as all our sites want to say that they’ve won an award for consistently delivering high quality standards when building.
“Achieving these awards show that Peveril Homes are consistently achieving the high standards that we set for ourselves when building quality homes for our purchasers. It shows that we truly care about the attention we put into building our homes.
“We want our purchasers to create happy memories for years to come in our Peveril homes and so they need to be built to the very best quality.”
Brindle Homes, Withnell Hall Gardens, Lancashire
Generating a buzz on site
Brindle Homes’ Withnell Hall Gardens development included the restoration of an old hall into apartments as well as a development of nine new-build homes.
Managing Director Chris Brown described what this meant to him and his team. “There was a real buzz on the development when we found out,” he said. “This really is a proud moment on a development that has been a unique project and so well received. The LABC Warranty award will help give assurance to customers and future homeowners of the quality of build that we strive for.
“It means an awful lot to the whole team. The team consists of myself, Dave Ainsworth, Jess Brown and Daniel McGuire. We all take an active role in the day-to-day site matters and the success of the site could not be achieved without everyone's hard work, including that of our fantastic team of contractors, so I really am proud of everyone's efforts.”
Brims Construction for Bede Homes, Gullane Close, Gateshead
Quality assured and confidence for customers
Joe Docherty, Managing Director of Bede Homes, said “I’m delighted to see our scheme at Bill Quay receive this award. It demonstrates to our customers the quality of construction they can expect, together with the peace of mind LABC Warranty provides and I’d like to congratulate our main Contractor Brims for the excellent standard of construction they have demonstrated throughout this development.”
“It is brilliant news to win an award, especially one for quality,” said Brim Construction’s Construction Director Jason Wood. “Here at Brims we always pride ourselves in the quality of our works and it is a great team effort at Gullane Close that is maintaining this quality and led to this well-deserved reward.
“The Bricks Site Recognition Award should be taken as a sign of confidence in the homes we have provided. A homeowner will see the LABC Warranty sign as a mark of a quality inspection. If the project wins an award then this will reassure them that their home is built to the highest standard and that every care has been taken in its construction.
“The client and homeowner may never get the chance to see the construction stages of their new homes. An award such as this will confirm that the quality is in the parts of the home they can’t see as much as the parts they can.”
